In Darkest Dungeon, you crawl through dark dungeons. It’s a lot of things, really, and let’s just leave it at that. Gameplayĭarkest Dungeon is a strange game to classify under a single genre. Not only that, but it keeps you interested in the story even when there isn’t a major scene in play. Every dungeon you go through, every menu and scene you watch, and every battle has a narrator describing the dark tone of everything that is happening in a way that really fits the atmosphere well. And that story is one of the game’s greatest assets. Story PlayStation gamers have been looking forward to seeing the game’s console and handheld debut for some time now, and it’s finally here. It’s dark, gritty, incredibly difficult, yet it has a massive following on Steam. The fact that these games do come to console (and handhelds via the PS Vita) introduces console gamers to experiences that took the PC and Steam world by storm.ĭarkest Dungeon is one of those games. Terraria, The Binding of Isaac, the list goes on. ![]() The king of the hill here is clearly Minecraft, but lots of indies have done this. There are a lot of games in the indie world that have becoming incredibly popular on PC and then consoles. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() This is a particularly special case, as it represents the funky fighter’s first-ever official release not only on home platforms but also on western soil. Today, we take a look at one such release, The Rumble Fish 2, freshly launched on modern platforms by publisher 3goo. Ironically, it would not be until decades later - amidst the visual splendor of T ekken 7, Guilty Gear Strive, and Street Fighter 6 - that younger players would even become aware of these titles’ existence, thanks to remasters and compilations by some of Japan’s most veteran publishers. Titles such as Breakers’ Revenge, The Last Blade, and Art of Fighting 3 could all deliver the goods, but simply couldn’t find their niche within an overcrowded, overcooked market. But there was an abundance of great, lesser-known 2D fighters that either faded into the background, or simply never saw the light of day outside of their native Japan. ![]() ![]() ![]() Teletanks were also designed to be capable of using chemical weapons, although they were not used in combat. They do run into a brick wall when dealing with arc resistant enemies though. You stack so much defensive mitigation that there isn't much that can really counter you and your starting army is a bit more impressive than the other factions. Sometimes I'm inclined to activate an Extra Turn boost just for negotiation of a single encounter - not to that extreme but close. Maybe Agent you should apply that to yourself. I stand by one of Agent's old comments that "established old players think they've already known everything about the game". ![]() |
